Landfill Dog Adoption Info
Most of the dogs shown on this website have already found homes. For Landfill Dogs who still need homes,
please see the Landfill Dogs facebook page.
Also check out the Friends of Wake County Animal Center Facebook Page.
Landfill Dogs are located at the Wake County
Animal Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is the policy of the WCAC that you must come in person to adopt a dog.
If you see a dog here that you want to adopt, but it is no longer available, do not be disappointed!
Please find your local animal shelter, walk in and tell them you want
the dog that has been waiting there the longest. That dog will be as
wonderful as any featured here.
If you are interested in adopting a dog, please contact the Wake County Animal Center at directly (website here).
But I would love to hear about it!
|Q: ||I am in another state, can you get the dog to me?|
|A: ||The policy of the Wake County Animal center requires the adopter to be there in person to adopt an animal. HOWEVER, you may adopt a Landfill Dog through The Positive Pitbull rescue group. Please contact me and I'll give you the contact there.|
|Q: ||What is the adoption fee?|
|A: ||The adoption fee is $95 and includes spay/neuter surgery, microchip, and rabies vaccine. If a dog is already altered, their adoption fee is reduced to $45.|
|Q: ||Are the animals fixed?|
|A: ||It is standard policy of the Wake County shelter that all animals must be spayed or neutered before adopted out.
This is critical to solving the animal overpopulation problem.|
|Q: ||Can you tell me if the animal is good with cats? (or other dogs, children, rabbits, ferrets, etc)?|
|A: ||Unfortunately, most of the time I do not have that information. However, if you are interested in a particular dog, please feel free to email
me and I will do my best to tell you what I know, and to find out! |
|Q: ||Is there a screening process?|
|A: ||No. This is a county shelter and public policy does not allow the shelter to screen adopters.|
